Dental examinations and cleanings are recommended at least every six months for most patients here at Clarity Dental. Drs Rebecca Easaw, Conny Qian, and Christina Shue regularly invite Bendigo, Victoria area patients into the office for these services to ensure they are keeping their teeth and gums clean and healthy. Below are some frequently asked questions we hear at our practice when patients visit us for the first time!
Regular dental examinations and cleanings are recommended for patients of all ages at least every six months or twice a year. However, the frequency may vary depending on individual factors such as oral health conditions, risk of oral diseases, and personal hygiene habits. Patients diagnosed with certain conditions, such as periodontal disease, may need to see our team at Clarity Dental more often to manage the condition and control the infection.
Regular, professional dental cleanings prevent plaque and tartar buildup on the surfaces of the natural teeth and below the gum line. They also allow dentists to monitor and address any potential oral health issues before they become bigger–and more expensive–problems. Even with proper brushing and flossing at home, some areas of the mouth can be difficult to clean thoroughly, making professional cleanings essential for maintaining optimal oral health.
During a dental examination, our dentists thoroughly evaluate your teeth and educate you on how to get rid of plaque buildup, keep the teeth from developing an infection, and reduce your risk of getting cavities or tooth decay. This appointment also includes an oral cancer screening, where our team at Clarity Dental checks for any signs of abnormal lesions or tissues in the mouth. Dental x-rays may also be taken to detect any hidden dental problems.
Good oral hygiene begins at home with proper brushing and flossing techniques. We strongly encourage patients to brush their teeth twice daily for at least two minutes each time and floss daily. We also advise patients to follow a balanced diet, limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, and avoid tobacco products. Using mouthwash can also help reduce plaque buildup and freshen your breath.
