Should I get Aligners or dental veneers?
Wanting to get a fresh new smile to boost your confidence, but unsure which option is the right one for you? In this blog post, we provide you with some clarity about both options to help you make the right choice.
What is Aligners?
Aligners is a series of clear aligners that progressively move your teeth to align them. It is a great option to help reduce crowding, close gaps between your teeth, improve your bite, and help make your teeth look nice and straight. The best thing about Aligners is that it is highly conservative. It does not involve cutting your teeth to add anything to them.
Aligners itself does not change the shape or colour of your teeth, but instead moves your own natural teeth into their best position. Aligners has become a lot more affordable and can be done in conjunction with whitening, to create a perfect smile. Sometimes Aligners is used prior to veneers or crowns to improve the treatment outcome.
What are dental veneers?
A dental veneer is like a contact lens over your tooth to improve the colour and shape of your tooth. In general, there are two types of dental veneers – composite veneers or ceramic veneers.
A composite veneer is a more conservative and more affordable option, where your dentist would add layers of tooth coloured filling material to your tooth to change the colour and shape of it.
A ceramic veneer on this other hand is custom made by a lab and glued onto the front surface of your tooth at a separate appointment. Ceramic veneers are more aesthetic and longer lasting than composite veneers.

Both dental veneers and Aligners are great options. A veneer is the better option if you are wanting to to change the shape of your teeth; while Aligners is the better option if you are happy with the shape of your teeth, but wanting an improvement of the alignment of your teeth.
